New Relic description template not displaying in Opsgenie

D Mitchell March 10, 2025

Hi,

We have a New Relic alert condition with a description template that will display a label named "env".   Which is either zone1 or zone2.

Screenshot 2025-03-10 094116.pngIt works fine in New Relic because we see it in the alert conditions.  But I'm not seeing the Description template information once it is passed to opsgenie.  Although I see the label in some places in the opsgenie alert:

Policy Name : Production HA MQ

Target Name : QM.QUEUEMANAGER_Q.QUEUE_zone1

Target Type : Query

Target Product : NRQL

Target Labels : [{qmgr=QM.QUEUEMANAGER, accountId=3858372, trustedAccountId=3858372, queue=Q.QUEUE, nr.alerts.enabled=true, label.env=zone1,

Any idea why the Description template isn't making it into the opsgenie alert?

Hello @D Mitchell ,

This is Shashwat from Opsgenie and here to help :)

May I know if you're using the recommended template in your New Relic workflow as below?

Using this template, you should be able to pass the description field in one of the above parameters and get it parsed inside the Opsgenie alert.

HI Shashwat,

We do not have a workflow applied to that alert policy so, no we don't have that template.

I'll implement one and try it.

Thanks

Hello @D Mitchell ,

That's great!

Once you apply the template, you should see the values getting parsed as expected under the template variables.

Best,
Shashwat
