Trigger issue creation when an asset is created

You used to be able to use asset (i.e. Object) creation as way to trigger issue creation. Is that feature gone?

Do you mean using the Object Created, Updated, or Deleted rule trigger:

Yes, that's what I am looking for. It appears that in the new UI you cannot access  Object triggers when you create the automation in a Project. I had to go to Jira Admin Settings -> Automation -> Global Automation and create a new Rule from there to get access to Object triggers.
