📣 Connect Workday with the virtual service agent and Automation

Hi Atlassian Community! 👋

We’re thrilled to announce that we’ve built a new integration with Workday!

Now you can manage HR workflows, like employee onboarding and queries, without leaving Jira Service Management. This new Workday integration can now be accessed directly from the virtual service agent & Jira Automation.

How to access the Workday integration

Before you can connect to Workday steps and actions for the first time, Premium and Enterprise Jira Service Management Cloud customers will need to create a connection with Workday as explained in the options below.

Try it

What’s new

Help seekers can now get their leave balances and apply for time off in a conversation with the virtual service agent.

Try it with Jira Automation

The Workday Integration can be used to streamline onboarding and enable seamless processes for HR teams and employees alike. You can choose to create an automation rule with a Workday trigger or action (or both). When used together, the Workday trigger and action will give you access to over 35 worker fields including key information such as employee name, role, location and manager! Visit our documentation for more details on how to setup and get the most out of these components.

Worker added to Workday Trigger

The Worker added to Workday trigger runs when a new worker has been added in your Workday instance. This can be useful for initiating an onboarding process for new hires by triggering workflows, sending welcome emails, and collaborating with other teams.

Retrieve worker details from Workday Action

Automation WD 2.png

The Retrieve worker details from Workday action allows you to retrieve certain details about an employee from Workday to use in your Jira project. This can be useful for streamlining your onboarding process and gathering employee details when resolving a query.

We need your feedback!

We know that there’s so much more to Workday! If you are interested in sharing your Workday needs and help shaping the future of Jira Service Management, simply complete the form below and our team will be in touch with more details on how to get involved:

This is really interesting. I would like to see this functionality be available via other HRIS/HCM apps (maybe a generic connector?) in the future.

Hi @Josh, thank you for your message! Out of curiosity, what other HRIS/HCM apps are you interested in?

Hi @Michael Fedulov . I'd prefer not to say the systems here but would be happy to discuss with you in a private channel. Philip Li is our CSM if you'd like to reach out that way.

Hi, the content above looks great for the future of Jira Service Management. Our team uses SAP SuccessFactors though, so we won't be able to use this feature. Will there be a similar integration like this down the road?

How about enable this across different JIRA/JSM instances which is currently only working via webhooks which is super high effort and not end user friendly.

Hi @Alexander Fedtke could you please share more on how this would work?

@Michael Fedulov

Current Problem:

We a big company with several companies running separate JIRA/JSM instances but people are currently not able to move ticket between insances.

E.g. Bug is raised in instance 1 but actually need to be fixed by team in instance 2. Currently people need to create these ticket manually.

Proposed solution:

1. enable move of ticket between instances

2. enable autom which can copy or move tickets to other instance projects

current workaround:

we create autom using webhooks to do this - super high effort to create and technical expertise needed

Hi @Michael Fedulov

We are in the early stages of creating this connection with workday. Do you have any information on what the necessary security group access would be for the Integration System User in workday to maintain this integration?  (ISU are created within workday to own/maintain the integrations through turnover and require specific access as a user would.)

Thank You!

Kyle
