ASSETS: Characters to Exclude in Anticipation of Exporting to Excel

Is there a list of characters which are problematic when importing from Excel to an Asset schema in Jira Service Management AND when exporting from JSM to Excel? 

Although commas are acceptable when loading a csv file into JSM, commas are not allowed in 'Select > Configure' lists.

Also problematic are Ampersand's '&'. This character is included in our 'Cost Center' attribute as part of a 'Select' in the configuration. However, upon exporting the objects from JSM to Excel, this character causes problems and is represented in the export file as '&amp'.

Any tips or tricks would be appreciated.
