I am working on a Schema in Assets and trying to set up a field that will automatically be populated with the attribute of an object referenced in another field, but I either can't find the correct information on how to do it, or maybe there isn't a way to do it.
Essentially, I have a reference field attribute that references the object type DNS Zone. When DNS Zone is populated with a referenced record, I would like another reference field for the object type Domain to be populated with what is in the DNS Zone attribute named Domain so that there is a cascading reference.
I don't see a way to do this without creating automations to handle it. Is it even possible?
If I'm understanding this right, Automations is how we handle it too. We have one that is triggered during a object update that will update its linked filed.
BUT I usually recommend to our Asset manager not to do this because the automations aren't great and might not sync properly and isn't great to rely on incase some use case happens that don't align (like an update via a csv import or Automation webhook).
We really need a good way to show the field of a linked asset that is related to the object we are in. As right now I'd rather they drill through the referenced asset instead otherwise we start to confuse what the "source of truth" is.
