CAN I RUN AN AUTOMATION THAT ENABLES ONLY REPORTER TO SET/MODIFY DUEDATE

Is it possible to restrict some fields like due date to the reporter or assignee, meaning only that person(reporter/assignee) will be able to set/modify the due date. Perhaps an automation could be of help. Any thoughts?

Locking down specific field editing will required third party add-ons and it is not available out of the box.

For the case where only reporter can edit the field after the issue is created, this is not possible because one will need JSM agent license to update issues data via the project UI and nothing from the portal UI.  Example - Once the Due Date is initially set by the reporter (customer) at issue submission, then it is up to Agents to change it value.

Automation cannot control specific field editing behavior.  The only option to control field editing is by customization your WFs transitions - where you expose those specific fields (one that you want to lockdown)  in a transition screen.  So those fields can only be populated initially via WF transitions + you also hide them from the issue edit/issue creation screens.  Add those fields only against issue view screen (thus it is read-only for all agents).

Again, this will only work work for users with JSM agent licenses for the WF customization option.
