×Hello,
is it possible to disable the visibility of Work Log content for a group of users in a specific project?
Precise I don't want to disable it, just prevent some users from viewing the content.
Thnaks
Hi @FrancoB ,
Jira’s standard functionality does not support restricting who can view work log details. However, if you're open to using third-party applications, I recommend exploring time tracking apps that provide this capability.
One such app is WorklogPRO. It offers advanced permission settings that allow you to manage the visibility of work logs at the project level. Specifically, WorklogPRO provides two custom permissions:
WorklogPRO – View all worklogs
WorklogPRO – View own worklogs
These permissions not only allow you to control visibility based on user groups, but also enable you to distinguish between users viewing their own work logs versus viewing others’.
Disclaimer: I work for the vendor who developed this application.
Hello @FrancoB ,
Natively, it is unfortunately not possible to hide the visibility or access to the work log contents.
However, with our app, developed in-house by SolDevelo: Worklogs - Time Tracking, Time Reports, besides the wide variety of worklog groupings and filters within its reports, you can easily restrict access to the work logs of other users with the use of custom permissions.
In addition, you can also make use of your standard Jira permissions to monitor who has access to work logs within specific Jira projects.
If you are interested in this solution, we kindly invite you to check it out!

Tomasz,

Hi @FrancoB!
Jira Cloud doesn’t provide native permissions to hide work log details for specific users — if they can view an issue, they can also see its work logs.
With Time & Cost Tracker, you can restrict visibility using custom report sharing. Only selected users or groups will have access to work log data inside reports, while others won’t see these details. This way, you keep sensitive information private while still tracking time and costs across projects.

Hi @FrancoB! 👋
Native Jira doesn’t support hiding time tracking UI elements (like the "Log Time" button or work log tabs). Even if a user can’t log or view work logs, the time tracking fields will still appear in the issue view.
However, if you need more control, you might want to explore JetTime — a privacy-first time tracking app for Jira Cloud. It lets you fully hide time tracking features from the Jira UI for specific user groups, using global permissions. You can also restrict users to viewing only their own work logs, giving you greater flexibility and privacy across teams.
