Exclude an asset category in search

Deleted user March 16, 2023

I am trying to see if I can search through my assets and exclude certain categories. For example, say I am looking through my desktop computer assets and I want to exclude all assets listed as staff computers and only want to view faculty computers. As of right now, I can only sort the list to put staff computers either at the top or the bottom but then the other categories (locations, computer type, model, recycled status, etc) get mixed into the list. Is there any way to exclude these items? I know on the server version of Jira we could exclude things like this so I am hoping the cloud version has a similar function.

Thank you for any help or advice.

I'm not sure where you are searching for Assets, but you should be able to do an AQL advanced search in the object type you are using:

Computer type" is empty"

or maybe

"Computer type" != "Staff computers"

Yes, if your asset management system supports asset typing, you can set up filters based on asset types to control what appears in search results. As a Jira administrator, you can go to Settings () > Issues > Custom fields > Linked assets > Configure > Default Configuration Scheme for Linked Assets > Edit filters and choose an asset type to filter by.
