Linked projects with ability to report like in an Epics Map

Hi, I would need some help (or idea) on how we can achieve this in Jira.

Background:

1. We run multiple independent projects across various groups/units.

2. Each project as we structured in Jira today have an Epics/Story setup. This is fine as we can use the Epic Link in the story and run Epics Map to see the relationship and the status.

Now as part of the change in our organization, there's an introduction of "ideas" tracking. The thing is, each idea can/may be carried out across multiple projects given the nature of the project structure we are in. This means, effectively multiple projects can contribute to the larger idea.

We are thinking of creating a new Jira project with a single issue type there (epic?) then linking the stories to this but it seems from reading in some threads that there's currently no way to visualize this.

So my question is:

Other than using the issue linking feature, are there any other ways we can link to another issue in another 'project' that allows us to do proper reporting at the IDEA level.

For example,

1. how many stories are being delivered for this IDEA.

2. what is the overall progress (based on Done) of the IDEA.

We're trying to go after the same behavior in the Epics Map where you can see this relationship.

Hello Carlo,

Random thought: have you checked already https://www.atlassian.com/software/jira/product-discovery ? It's in beta actually, but I speculate it could fit your "IDEA <-> delivery" use-case nicely. Orit  could not, I dunno - I'm just sharing the idea.

Cheers,
Piotr

reading sounds like it 'might' work but the problem is it's in beta and we need this to be more of a permanent solution.

im not sure what happens after beta if it will become a paid solution etc.
