I am looking into the new forms released for our instance.
I am just wondering if there is any way to get a direct link to a jira form that can be made public?
We are a school and require some forms to be filled by parents/guardians so they do not create accounts. I am wondering if there is a way to get this working or if it is in the works to implement some form of public forms?
I found a way to work around this. It's not very neat but it does work.
I can make the form available to anonymous access by making my portal public.
My requirement was that I could not get the form public and search for users.
I created a Text Field (multi-line) custom field. This is linked to a text field on the form. I get the parents to enter their students id number as this is the email format we use. From this I go to Automation and create an action "Create variable" which uses my customfield and I then add the rest of my domain onto it and then assign it as the reporter.
So the user inputs 6 digits in our form XXXXXX
An automation then grabs that form value and adds our email domain at the end so we end up with XXXXXX@domain.com
The automation then edits the issues reporter to be the smart value we created
The issue is this only works if the ID is entered correctly however so prone to human error as most things
HI @Conrad Fleming ,
There's an add-on to this per form on the Server/DC version . However, since you are cloud, there not a way that I'm aware of. All the forms on the portal would either be public and non-public. You may need to create another service desk portal for parent/guardians and give public access to that portal through the project permissions.
Hope this helps.
Thanks,
Ben

Hi Ben,
Thats a bummer. Hopefully is considered for future releases then!

Hi @Conrad Fleming ! As an alternative, try add-on Smart Jira Forms, developed by my team. For each form you create, you can get a URL that even people who aren't Jira users can submit. All submitted data will be displayed in the issue.
