I'm looking into the process for moving a JIRA Software project to a Service Desk project. The project supports external users of our products, and each user obviously counts against the user license count currently. As the project switches to Service Desk, those uses will no longer need a user license in our JIRA instance, so I'm wondering how those users become "un-licensed" in this process? What needs to be changed in their profiles so that they are no longer a licensed user, but only access the Service Desk project as a customer?
From Atlassian support:
Since you are transitioning a project from being Software to Service Desk, in terms of handling the users, you will need to remove those users from groups that have Application access. You can do this under ⚙ > Applications > Application access to verify the users that are in groups that have internal user access.
Hi Ada ,
You could change the project type as mentioned in the link below

Hi Ajay,
Are you asking if I have permissions to do the transition? I do.
But upon transition, how will or should all the users who were previously JIRA Software-licensed, be "removed" from a licensed seat while retaining licenses for those who still will be Software project users. Is it a permission group?
Thank you,
Ada
