In our IT department, our tech services team uses a work management project (team-managed) to track the status of hardware deployments. I'm looking to see if I can use automation so that when they mark a device as deployed (change of sub-task status), the asset status in Jira Assets updates.
Currently, I have automation established:
1. Trigger: Transition of status in Project R
2. Create a sub-task on a particular ticket in Project H
3. Copy the custom field (currently named "Old Computer," Assets objects type) from the trigger issue (team-managed Jira project) to Project H issue (company, JSM).
Everything works as expected, except that the Old Computer Name (present in both issues) doesn't update.
If I can get the field information into the JSM project, then changing asset status is a breeze, but I'm running into a roadblock here and would like some help identifying what the particular issue is.
Insights and any resources would be helpful. I feel like my research has led me around my answers without a clear picture of what specifically is going on.

Hello @Sara Rowe
Welcome to the Atlassian community.
It will enable us to help you more effectively if you provide screen images that show the entire Automation Rule, the details of each step in the rule, and the results in the rule execution audit log.
Sometimes problems come from the context of a step. Sometimes problems come from typos. Sometimes problems come from choosing the wrong options. We can't determine that without seeing the rule.
And if there is any error message being produced and recorded in the log, we need to see that.
What is the result you observe in the JSM issue when this rule runs? Does the Object field in the JSM issue get updated?
Thanks Trudy! I updated the original post based on your suggestions.

Can you show us the configuration/fields of your Team Managed project, specifically showing us the Old Computer field?
TM Business projects don't have a native field type that can link to Assets, and trying to re-use a globally defined Asset Object type custom field doesn't work in my environment - the field is not visible on the screen.
