Using Auto-approve/decline in automation when the issue have more than 1 approver

Angga Putra April 26, 2020

Hello,

We are using Service Desk and automation (by add comment "approve") to our approval workflow. But i have some problem when the issue have more than 1 approver.

Example, we have 1 issue with 4 approvers. but when 1 approver add comment "approve" and trigger the automation, the issue become approved and left the 3 approvers cant do anything.

We already set the status to "Consider approved after 4 approvals" but still its only need 1 approval to approve the issue. We realy need to all approval "approve" by adding a comment and keep the log when the approve.

Thankyou,

Hey there,

With the auto-approve automation rule, it will always disregard how many approvals are required and just auto-approve and transition the issue out of the approval step.

If you'd like to use the approval functionality where e.g 4 approvals are required before an issue can progress, you'll need to have those users give their approvals manually, by first setting them as approvers, and then having them each click the 'approve/decline' button on the issue during the approval step.

To set them as approvers, you must put those users into the user field linked in the approval step. If you'd like to use the same users for every single issue, you can set a default value for that field to make it easier.

If you haven't done it yet, check out the docs on setting up approvals: https://support.atlassian.com/jira-service-desk-cloud/docs/set-up-an-approval-stage-for-a-request/
