Cloning Dynamic Form to another project

Diogo June 1, 2023

Hi everyone!!

How can automation rules automatically clone not only the issue but also the form, as I'm using the Extension Dynamic Forms for Jira plugin? I'm having difficulties getting the form to be cloned along with the desired issue to another project. I have tried using Deep Clone and other tools, but nothing seems to work. Any suggestions or alternative solutions that can help in this scenario?

Hello, @Diogo !

If I understand your problem correctly you need to have the same form inside different projects, I am not sure if it should be submitted form or blank form for submission, but for both of that purposes I can recommend Smart Jira Forms add-on for you.

This add-on offers various options to suit your needs. For example, you can configure the form to create an issue automatically after form submission, and you can choose multiple projects where the form will be available. Additionally, you can add the form to existing issues, selecting several of them if needed. Alternatively, you can manually add the form to each ticket individually.

I hope this suggestion proves helpful, and if you have any further questions or need assistance, please feel free to contact me.

Hello, @Olha Yevdokymova_SaaSJet , thanks for your attention!

I use the dynamic form because I need the option they have which is in a select box when selecting a value, depending on the value, the respective fields appear very low for each value, can you tell me if the Smart Jira Forms has this option?

Regarding what you said, I already have the form assembled and inserted in the issue that the customer is going to fill out, I want that when he sends the issue, when cloning to the respective project, he also clones the form together with it. That is the problem...

If you mean the conditional logic possibility you can use it in Smart Jira Forms of course. You can set dependencies for the fields with multi choices.

If I understand your usage scenario correctly, I can provide my perspective on a similar situation using Smart Jira Forms. If you want to have the same blank form within a cloned issue, you can utilize the "Add form to issue automatically" feature. This functionality automatically adds a form to the selected project and issue type, but the form will not be filled out. This approach is suitable when you require the same form for submission in different issues.

However, if you want the form to be filled with answers, you can explore a functionality similar to JSM Forms called "Create issue Automatically." This feature creates an issue with the respondent's answers in the chosen project and issue type after each form submission. In this case, you will have the submitted form inside the newly created issue.Screenshot 2023-06-02 110402.png To easily navigate to it from the cloned issue, you can utilize the native Jira functionality of "linked issues." This method will also work with any add-ons you may want to use.
Alternatively, you can download the form within the ticket where the form is added. This is how it looks with Smart Jira Forms - >Screenshot 2023-06-02 111617.png After uploading the form, you can attach it to the cloned issue. This simple three-click solution allows you to include the form as an attachment. It may be the easiest way to achieve your goal. Because even attachment field inside issues will not be cloned with issue.
