Creating an Incident from JSM Alerts using automation

Lily Driscoll April 24, 2025

Looking to create a manual automation from JSM Ops alerts to create an Incident in out JSM project. When setting the Incident summary from the alert summary, I have {{alert}} and similarly {{alert.descipription}}. When trying to reference Affected services I have tried {{alert.affectedServices}}, {{alert.Affected services}}, {{alert.customfield_13739}} and none seem to work.

Hi @Lily Driscoll

First thing, I am not using Opsgenie and so my suggestion is based on checking for open defects / suggestions for the product.  With that out of the way...

It appears that information is not currently available with the Alert, and here is a knowledgebase article with a workaround using an automation rule and the REST API:

https://support.atlassian.com/jira/kb/how-to-show-the-affected-services-from-jsm-incident-to-opsgenie-alerts/

If that one does not help, consider checking with your Site Admin to submit a ticket to Atlassian Support to ask for their suggestions.  Thanks!

Kind regards,
Bill
