Assets Discovery: Error: Mandatory Hostname missing for: XX.XXX.XXX.X (Linux scans)

Setting up assets discovery and when running a scan we're getting the Error: Mandatory Hostname missing for: XX.XXX.XXX.X. I've logged into the account running the scan and verified that typing hostname and hostname -s both provide the hostname for the servers being called out for error.

Any ideas why this might be happening?

Hi @Scott Boisvert

did you check the logs of your discovery scan? Is it possible that you save the scan before doing an import? That way you could use the Discovery included tool to display the scans before importing them. That can be achieved by storing the scans only or copy it to a specific path before importing. You can also change the log level to debug for this purpose: Configure export settings | Atlassian Support | Atlassian Documentation

I suspect that the scan of the hostname is included in a pattern, which is currently not selected, but is expected to be executed before the pattern in question starts. Use the viewer to display the structure of the exported file to see what data actually is in it. And use the log of the scan to find out, where the hostname is expected and what kind of commands have been running so far.

If you need further help, you may share the patterns you use as screenshot and potentially the log. However, I would suggest to remove sensitive data before sharing.

Hope this helps!

Stefan
