Edit value from form using automation

Hello !

Atlassian just released this new way of accessing form data :

But is there a way to directly edit a value inside a form or can we just access the data and copy it inside another field ?

Welcome to Atlassian Community!

The Forms smart values are only for copying the data from the form and then act on it, it is not for updating the form answers. Currently the only way you can edit the answers is by manually do it in the form, it cannot be done via automaton or REST API.

There might be a solution, even if it's not super elegant

You can link the form field you want to update to a custom field.

Then, with an automation, when the form is submitted, you make the issue editable.

Still within the same automation, you set the new value into the custom field linked to the form.

I'm using this approach because I need to insert the issue key into a form field, so I can later display it in the form's PDF.
