I have a list of assets which has to be reviewed once or twice a year.
The review date is an attribute on the asset and is set manually.
When the review date has passed I would like an email to go out, or a ticket created and assigned, to to the user that is assigned to the asset, so that the asset can be reviewed.
I'm very new to JSM and automation so I don't know where to start.

You can have timely triggered automation, which checks {{issue.reviewdate}} > now,
then edit issue/create issue - depends on your requirement
